Before arriving in Thunderclan, fox shifters originated from a distant group. Not quite a clan, but more like a pack. They traveled from place to place, and no one is quite sure where they are now. Fighollow’s parent Pomegranatetooth once lived with the traveling fox pack. Her spoken tales of the pack barely survived, as Fighollow’s memories became a bit scrambled after being lost in a rift. History prevails nevertheless. Miraculously, Fighollow uncovered her mother’s old writings in a leather-bound journal, paired with a Universal Translator. Here is a rundown of what Pomegranatetooth’s writings said:
There are four main (and notably, unrelated) families within the pack. Each had their own family head. Other families and individuals come and go, but these main four were the most influential. The four powerful families decided where the pack would go, who to make allies and enemies with, and how to worship. They were called the Foxes of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
Honeypot was the leader of the Foxes of Spring. Honeypot was Appleskin’s mother. Appleskin left the pack to be with Pomegranatetooth, and they are Fighollow’s parents. Fighollow and her family are decedents of the Foxes of Spring, and inherit Large Animal. Foxes from this family are lighter in color than the typical red fox. Their fox pelts are usually a light, cream color.
Vinewish was the leader of the Foxes of Summer. The rest of this section is smudged. It looks like Fighollow has more investigating to do.
Autumnleaves was the leader of the Foxes of Fall. Autumnleaves is Twigbend’s parent and is Foxface’s grandparent. Stoneface was not related to any member of the seasonal foxes. Foxes from this family are typically the classic red fox and inherit large animal and chameleon pelt.
Sleetwatcher was the leader of the Foxes of Winter. After a loosing battle with an enemy fox pack, the Foxes of Winter family lost many members. Their family line tragically ended. Sleetwatcher has been watching and waiting, in spirit, for someone to bless with fox shifting powers to continue on the Winter Fox family legacy.
Finally, after two generations of the other families living on, Sleetwatcher found a cat perfect for adopting into their family. Although he had decided to live his life ‘laying low’, Sleetwatcher something special in Mistralmane. Sleetwatcher She hastily shoves the shapeshifting ability toward him, and she blessed him with Small Animal.
Foxes from this family were typically white foxes, but platinum and grey coats were not uncommon.
Fox Spirit Ancestors are a group of spirits that exist in a heavenly afterlife, like StarClan. They act as s shared non-player characters (NPCs), meaning anyone may portray them. However, if you’d like to create your own fox ancestor as a main or reoccurring character, please ask me (Tyebean) first.
These spirits are somewhat similar to Clan Spirits (such as Sky Spirit or Wind Spirit). While they can be used by anyone as NPCs, I still consider them my characters, since I created the concept and artwork. So if you’re interested in writing a Fox Spirit Ancestor, please check with me beforehand!
Reasons you may want to write a Fox Spirit Ancestor is to: Give your character their fox form, provide shifting training, be a guide or possibly even a daemon.
